TECHNICAL DEFINITION

The Precision Strike Missile (PrSM) is a next-generation, all-weather, 24/7, land-based tactical missile developed for the U.S. Army to provide long-range, deep strike capabilities against enemy targets, including launchers, command nodes, and maneuver units, with enhanced precision and improved lethality beyond line of sight.

BACKGROUND

The Precision Strike Missile is a series of ballistic missiles, both short- and later medium-range, developed by Lockheed Martin to replace the MGM-140 ATACMS. The early variant of this missile, Increment One, is currently in service with both the United States Army and Australian Army. Increment Two will have an anti-ship targeting capability and later Increment variants will have modular payloads capabilities and an increased range out to 1,000 km (620 mi). Australia is a partner in the program to develop Increments Two, Three and Four.
