Iron Dome
The Iron Dome is a mobile all-weather air defense system designed to intercept and destroy short-range rockets, artillery shells, and mortars fired from distances of 4 to 70 kilometers.

TECHNICAL DEFINITION
The Iron Dome is an Israeli-developed mobile air defense system, manufactured by Rafael Advanced Defense Systems and Israel Aerospace Industries, engineered to intercept and neutralize short-range rockets, artillery shells, and UAVs using radar-guided Tamir interceptor missiles to protect civilian areas and strategic assets.
BACKGROUND
The Iron Dome is an Israeli mobile all-weather air defense system, developed by Rafael Advanced Defense Systems and Israel Aerospace Industries. The system is designed to intercept and destroy short-range rockets and artillery shells fired from distances of 4 to 70 kilometres (2–43 mi) away and whose trajectory would take them to an Israeli populated area. From 2011 to 2021, the United States contributed a total of US$1.6 billion to the Iron Dome defense system, with another US$1 billion approved by the US Congress in 2022.

DEVELOPERS
Organizations developing technology related to Iron Dome.
Prime developer and manufacturer of the Iron Dome air defense system, including the Tamir interceptor missile.
Developed the core Battle Management Control (BMC) software, the "brain" of the Iron Dome system, responsible for detection, tracking, and interception decision-making.
Developer of the ELM-2084 Multi-Mission Radar, which is an integral component of the Iron Dome system, providing crucial target detection and tracking capabilities.
Partnered with Rafael to produce and integrate the Iron Dome Defense System-America (IDDS-A) for the U.S. Army, adapting and manufacturing components for the American market.
Government body responsible for initiating, funding, and overseeing the development of advanced defense technologies, including significant involvement in the Iron Dome project from its inception.
