Uxin built a C2C marketplace connecting individual sellers to buyers, layered on inspection services and financing partnerships to capture transaction fees. The platform never solved the fundamental problem: Chinese consumers do not trust online used car transactions without physical inspection, which made the digital marketplace model structurally uneconomical. By 2020 the company pivoted to a dealer-focused B2C model that looked suspiciously like the offline business it claimed to be disrupting.
