The platform is a licensed bank wrapped in APIs — core banking rails, card issuing via Visa and Mastercard partnerships, SEPA payment processing, and compliance infrastructure. The technology works, which is why N26, Vivid Money, and Trade Republic all used it at various points. The problem is that technology that works eventually becomes technology that customers replicate in-house.
