Ninebot manufactures electric scooters, self-balancing personal transporters, and electric go-karts using lithium battery systems and gyroscopic stabilization technology that stopped being proprietary in 2012. The Segway-Ninebot KickScooter became the hardware standard for dock-less scooter sharing platforms — which means Ninebot built the commodity infrastructure for an entire sector that spent $5 billion proving unit economics do not work at scale.
